An enchanting part of the lady slipper family (pedium is Greek for shoe, referring to their pouches) most Phragmipedium’s flowers open sequentially. The blossoms are long-lasting—you can watch the pouch grow and petals lengthen—before it drops off to be followed by the next one. Colors are vivid: Chinese red, oxblood, peach, pink, yellow, and can have red-freckled yellow pouches. Easy keepers, they don't enjoy drying out, nor being fertilized too much.
